Pixels, centimeters and DPI
Pixels set the image dimensions. A JPEG DPI tag sets print scaling and does not replace the scan resolution requested for paper originals. At 200 DPI, 3.5 × 4.5 cm converts to 276 × 354 px; 400 × 133 px with a 200 DPI tag prints at about 5.08 × 1.69 cm. In Pixel mode, changing DPI metadata does not change image pixels. Size settings use 1 KB = 1024 bytes. To cover either common KB convention, photo outputs stay between 20,480 and 49,999 bytes; signature outputs stay between 10,240 and 20,000 bytes.
Check the notice for your application
Find the examination year, notification number and application flow, such as OTR or a specific recruitment. Check the required encoding, exact pixels, minimum and maximum bytes, name/date rules and any filename or resolution requirements.
Compare the saved file against your notice. A technical pass in this tool confirms the selected settings; it cannot guarantee acceptance by an application portal.
TNPSC Photo and Signature Requirements for Group IV 2026
Official notice checked · 28 October 2026
Source: TNPSC Group IV Notification 11/2026, Annexure I §§2.2 and 3.3–3.6 (PDF pages 1 and 23–25). The notice distinguishes the OTR image rules from the photo and signature files required for this application.
Colour studio photo, white background, face, ears and neck visible
Blue or black ink on white paper
Other instructions
Face 3.0 cm; name/date strip 1.5 cm; photo taken on or after notification date
Blue or black pen; crop to the signature box
Section 3.3 specifies 3.5 cm wide (130 px) by 4.5 cm high (170 px), including a 115 px face area and 55 px name/date strip. Section 3.4 separately requires a 200 DPI scan when starting from paper, then a 20–50 KB crop. The §3.3 pixel/centimetre pair is about 95 DPI; the 200 DPI instruction describes the paper scan, not JPEG metadata. The product default remains 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI (276 × 354 px); the reference button selects 130 × 170 px.
Section 3.5 specifies a 6.0 × 2.0 cm paper signature box, labelled 230 × 75 px, scanned at 200 DPI and cropped to the box. Applicant reports dated 14 October 2026 describe rejection below 300 × 100 px; a second report describes a 300 × 100 to 450 × 200 px interval. These are secondary reports, not the portal's published validator. The product default remains 400 × 133 px, within the reported range and at the notice's 3:1 shape. If the active form offers a pre-submission check, compare its response to both settings and follow its message.
Notification 11/2026 is listed on the official application site. It is dated 6 October 2026; applications close 5 November and the correction window is 9 November, 12:01 AM to 11 November, 11:59 PM. Confirm live status on the portal.
OTR profile instructions and an examination application are separate steps. The notice's OTR section asks for a photo taken within the previous three months; §3.3 separately requires the photo uploaded with each online application to be taken on or after that notification date. Check which upload field you are completing and apply its date rule.

The official notice gives the photo and signature instructions cited on this page.
Applicant portal reports
A dated secondary report described signature rejections below 300 × 100 px. This is not an official amendment to the notice or a published TNPSC validation rule.
Official notice checked
This guide was checked against Notification 11/2026, Annexure I §§2.2 and 3.3–3.6.
Having trouble uploading?
Check your exam notification if the upload portal rejects your photo or signature. The checks below help compare the file to that notice; they do not guarantee portal acceptance.
Invalid dimensions or format
Compare the actual output width and height in pixels with your notice. Use Change Settings and choose Pixel to enter exact pixel dimensions when required. Use the generated JPEG; renaming a PNG, WebP or HEIC file does not convert its encoding.
File size
Compare the measured bytes against both the minimum and maximum in your notice, including its unit definition. The tool now checks both limits for default, reference and custom settings. A simple scan may remain below the minimum even at maximum quality. In that case, use a more detailed scan; no dummy padding is added.
Photo date or text strip
Check whether your current notice requires the photo to have been taken on or after a particular date and whether a name/date strip is required. The 2026 notice requires a photo taken on or after 6 October 2026. Enter the actual date the photo was taken; do not substitute today's date.
Background or appearance
Compare the source photo with the current notice. The 2026 notice describes a studio colour photo, white background, and visible face, ears and neck. The tool does not replace a background or verify that these conditions are met.
Correction window or deadline
The Group IV application deadline is 5 November 2026. The notice lists a correction window from 9 November 2026, 12:01 AM to 11 November 2026, 11:59 PM. Check the portal for its live status and the changes it allows.
TNPSC Photo Size and Upload Requirements
Start with a clear studio portrait, not a screenshot or messaging-app copy; repeated JPEG exports can soften face and text detail. Review the crop and enter the candidate's actual name and photo date in the strip. The editor cannot restore missing detail or replace a non-compliant background.
Group IV §§3.3–3.4 prohibit phone photos, selfies, Xerox copies, family-function or tourist-place photos, plant/building backdrops, and nature, wildlife or building images. The photo must be taken on or after 6 October 2026. Save it as Photograph.jpg. Section 3.6 warns that incorrect dimensions, size, format or unclear images may lead to rejection after due process. Requirements can differ for other exams.
TNPSC Signature Size and Scan Instructions
Draw a 6.0 × 2.0 cm box on white paper, sign inside it in blue or black ink, scan at 200 DPI, and crop only the box. Keep the paper flat and avoid shadows, folds and glare; review that every stroke is visible. Save as Signature.jpg. The product default is 400 × 133 px; a separate button selects the notice's 230 × 75 px value.
Why the product default is 400 × 133 px
Applicant reports dated 14 October 2026 describe the live form rejecting 230 × 75 px below a reported 300 × 100 px minimum; a second report gives a 300 × 100 to 450 × 200 px interval. A 400 × 133 px image falls inside that reported range and keeps approximately the notice's 3:1 box shape. These secondary reports do not establish an official validator and do not replace the notice or your application's current instructions.
Your signature is processed in the browser and is not uploaded to this site's server. Keep the original scan private in case you need another version.
Use the file in the application portal
Confirm the exam, notification and application flow before preparing files; OTR and recruitment forms can differ. For Group IV 11/2026, the listed exam date is 10 January 2027. Upload each named file to the matching field and read the portal's response. A local export confirms only the selected dimensions, format, metadata and byte range.
Save the portal confirmation. The notice lists corrections from 9 November 2026, 12:01 AM through 11 November, 11:59 PM; check the portal to see which changes it allows.
Keep the files separate: upload Photograph.jpg in the photo field and Signature.jpg in the signature field. Wait for each preview or status message, then review the application summary. A downloaded file or local size check alone does not confirm portal receipt.
Check each TNPSC examination separately
Photo and signature rules vary by exam. For Group IV, this site's photo default is 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI (276 × 354 px), while the notice specifies 130 × 170 px and a 200 DPI scan of paper originals. The signature default remains 400 × 133 px; the notice specifies a 230 × 75 px box. Reference buttons let you select the printed pixel values.
Do not reuse these Group IV figures for Group II/IIA, TNUSRB or TRB forms. Each recruitment may publish different dimensions, byte limits, formats or photo rules, and some rely on instructions shown inside their own portal. This guide does not claim exact values for those exams; check their current official notice and upload screen.
